UPPER ARLINGTON, Ohio — Curt Robert Winkelvoss, 38, Upper Arlington, died Friday, Feb. 22, 2013, at Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland, from injuries sustained from a snow skiing accident.
Born Oct. 23, 1974, in Youngstown, Ohio, he was the son of Paul and Karen (Schampel) Winkelvoss, Oakland.
He was a 1993 graduate of Canfield High School, Canfield, Ohio, and a 1998 graduate of Ohio State University, Columbus. He was employed by Turner Construction, Columbus, as a civil engineer.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Roy and Phyllis Winkelvoss; and his maternal grandparents, Robert and Lillian Schampel.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Allison (Spyker) Winkelvoss, Upper Arlington; two children, Zeke and Paige Winkelvoss, at home; one sister, Beth Bowers, Swanton; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Don and Kathy Spyker, Lima, Ohio; two brothers-in-law, James (Karen) Spyker, Lima, and Jason Spyker, Columbus; and six nephews, Tyler and Carter Bowers, Swanton, and Charlie, Tommy, Joey and James Jr. Spyker, Lima.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to any Chase Bank, c/o the Curt Winkelvoss Memorial Foundation, for a college fund for Zeke and Paige Winkelvoss.
Visitation will be held at the Mill Run Lutheran Church, Hilliard, Ohio, on Friday, March 1, 2013 from noon until 3 p.m., with a service following. Fellowship will follow the service.
