“Forever Together”
CUMBERLAND — Maxine H. Fairall, 87, of Cumberland, passed away on Monday, Oct. 8, 2012 at her residence. She resided at home with her daughter and family. There she fought a courageous battle against her numerous medical conditions with patience, grace and dignity.
Born on April 11, 1925, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Amos Abraham and Lucy Mary (Weber) Monnette. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Alfred V. Fairall Sr., they were married 30 years before his passing in May 1976. After 36 long years of waiting, she is now reunited with the “love of her life”. Also, she is lovingly reunited with her “baby boy”, her youngest son, Michael P. Fairall, who passed in October 2004. She is the last surviving member of her immediate family. Preceded before her are her sisters, Anna C. Twigg and husband John, Alice D. Gorche and husband Bruce, Mary Margaret Monnette and Mildred J. Monnette.
Maxine was a homemaker and previously employed by Rand’s Drug Store, Drug Fair and Hills Department Store. While there, she made many life long friends. Maxine was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School, class of 1944. She was a lifetime member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Oldtown Road.
She was an exceptional poet, outstanding cook and an avid card player. She was the “neighborhood mom” where everyone, young and old, could find their favorite home cooked meal waiting for them on the table. As the years went by, she became a “mom” and “grandmother” to all who knew and loved her.
She was a devoted wife and a dedicated, loving and selfless mother. Sadly left behind are her sons, Alfred V. Fairall Jr. and wife Bonnie, William J. Fairall and wife Gena and her daughter, Mary L. Fansler and husband Greg Sr., all of Cumberland. Also are her adoring grandchildren from whom “the world revolved”, Shawn Ritchie and wife, Kathy, Juslyn Fairall, Alysha Fairall and fiancé, Sam Watters, Lynn Zaleski Huggins, Dana Spicer and husband Craig, Mandi Wierzbicki and husband, Dave, Lauren Fansler, Gregory Fansler Jr., Brandi Staub, Billy Stoner and Greg Foreman.
