OAKLAND — Selma Francis (Jordan) Moreland, 92, of Oakland, died on Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013 at the Dennett Road Manor Nursing Home in Oakland.
Born on Aug. 21, 1920 in Kempton, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Joseph Harrison and Effie Catherine (Kelley) Jordan.
Selma’s beautiful flower gardens were her passion and what she loved spending her time doing. She was a homemaker who loved to bake and provide food for others. Her love for her family was always seen on her face and in her heart. Selma gave love and she was loved. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin and friend to everyone she met.
She is survived by two daughters, Judy Ragione and husband Frank of Arnold and Bonnie Zimmeran of Oakland; three sons, Elmer Moreland and wife Jane, Royce Moreland and wife Vonda, and Allen Moreland and wife Kimberly, all of Oakland; one daughter-in-law, Pamela Moreland of Petersburg, W.Va.; one step-son, Roy Moreland Jr. of Baltimore; 21 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and many other beloved relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy George Moreland; three sons, Jeffery Earle Moreland, David Reed Moreland and John Joseph Moreland; a brother, Reed Jordan; two sisters, Faye Bolyard and Ruby Merle Blizzard; and a great-great-granddaughter, Madison.
Friends will be received at the Burdock-Fredlock Funeral Home, P.A., 21 N 2nd St., Oakland, on Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013 at 10 a.m. with Pastor Ben Lahay officiating.
Interment will follow in Moreland Cemetery.
