FORT ASHBY, W.Va. — Philip Craig Meadows, 73, of Fort Ashby, passed away on Friday, Jan. 11, 2013 at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center, with his family by his side.
Born June 11, 1939 in Petersburg, Va., he was the son of the late Joseph Seth and Rosa (Seay) Meadows.
He was also preceded in death by his son, Joseph Craig Meadows; and a brother, Joseph Eugene Meadows.
A graduate of Fort Ashby High School, Phil then entered the U.S. Army. His term of service was spent in Japan. Following the Army, he attended Catherman’s Business School.
He worked for the Kelly-Springfield Tire Company until they closed. Phil and his wife then owned and operated Fort Ashby Camper Sales until retirement.
He attended Trinity United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Kay (Kenney) Meadows; two daughters, Patricia Meadows, and Tamara “Tami” Ballou, and husband Rick; four grandchildren, Andrew Carder, Rachael Carder, Haley Meadows, and Levi Craig Meadows; one brother, Wilton Meadows, and companion, Sherry Madary.
Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, Inc., Route 28, Fort Ashby, on Monday from 6 to 9 p.m.
The service will be conducted in the funeral home on Tuesday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Mark Hickman officiating.
Interment will be in Fort Ashby Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded by Post 13 Veterans Honor Guard.

The family would like to thank the WMHS High Level Care Unit, Dr. James Moen, and Dr. Brian Hasslinger for the exceptional and compassionate care given to Philip.
