RIDGELEY, W.Va. — Ruth Una Fair, 91, of Ridgeley, W.Va., died Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013, at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center. Ruth had resided at The Dawnview Center, Fort Ashby, for the past 14 months.
Born Aug. 6, 1921, in Ridgeley, she was the daughter of the late Cecil Jacob Fair and Violet (Trent) Fair. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Eleanora Fair; her brother, Charles Fair and a nephew, James “Jay” Kinsman.
Ruth attended eight grades and four years of high school. She graduated from Ridgeley High School, class of 1939. Even though she could not hear, Ruth was able to read lips and made good grades.
She belonged to Holy Cross United Methodist Church.
Ruth loved to watch the Pittsburgh Pirates, Baltimore Orioles, and the Washington Nationals baseball games. She also enjoyed the Washington Redskins and Pittsburgh Steelers. Most of all, Ruth loved WVU football and basketball games.
She is survived by her sister, Jean Hoffmaster and husband Charles, with whom she had resided; a niece, Diane Denzler; three nephews, Jonathan Kinsman, David Dawson, wife Dolores, and their son Mark and Leroy Dawson, wife Becky, and their son Michael; nephew Jay’s wife, Kathy, their daughter Melissa, and her sons, Zachary and Reese; and two special friends, Dick and Sally Milliron.
Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A. 202 Greene St., Cumberland, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m.
The funeral service will be conducted in the funeral home on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Thomas Young officiating.
Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
