CUMBERLAND — Allen Reed Smith, 95, of Cumberland, died on Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at Golden Living Center.
Born Jan. 19, 1917, in Artemas, Pa., he was the son of the late Owen Clay Smith and Cindrilla Flora (Smith) Smith. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor (Ware) Smith and a son, Gary Smith.
A United States Army veteran during World War II, Mr. Smith retired from Celanese Fibers Corporation of America.
He is survived by two daughters, Joann Wilson, of Cumberland and Carolyn Butts and husband Kenneth, of Cumberland; a son, Allen Smith and wife Inge, of Rock Hill, S.C.; a sister, Thelma Valentine, of Cumberland; a brother, Owen C. Smith, of Baltimore; as well as nine grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, (www.AdamsFamilyFuneralHome.com) on Monday, Jan. 7, 2013, from 4 to 7 p.m.
A funeral service will be conducted in the funeral home on Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Chan Hubbard officiating.
Interment will be in Union Grove Cemetery.
