HANCOCK — Marietta M. “Sissy” Zies, 89, of Hancock, died Monday, Dec. 24, 2012 at War Memorial Hospital, Berkeley Springs, W.Va.
Born Nov. 26, 1923 at Ditch Run, Fulton County, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Jacob Walter and Annie Catherine Hiett Douglas and the widow of Harold E. “Sonnie” Zies.
She was a former employee of Weaver’s Restaurant Hancock, and had worked for Jacobs Brothers and Alberta Orchard.
She was a Presbyterian by faith.
She is survived by three sons, Charles Stephen Zies and wife Deborah, of Hancock, Jack Lee Zies and wife, Nancy Anne, of Hagerstown, Dusty Thomas Zies and wife, Charlotte Rebecca of Hancock; one brother, Ellis “Pappy” Douglas of Orbisonia, Pa.; nine grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by, one son, Hayes; one daughter, Victoria; two brothers, Harold W. Douglas, Walter Luther Douglas; granddaughter, Jill Zies; grandson, Stephen Zies II; daughter-in-law, Dianne Zies.
A service will be held Friday, Dec. 28, at 11 a.m. at the Grove Funeral Home, Hancock, the Rev. William Swope will officiate.
Burial will be in the Mt. Olivet Presbyterian Cemetery, Hancock.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Thursday 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
