CUMBERLAND — Lena Mae Porter, 86, of Cumberland, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 23, 2012 at her home.
Born March 16, 1926, in Berlin, Pa., Mrs. Porter was the daughter of the late Hercules Northcraft and Mary Elizabeth (McDonald) Northcraft. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Charles William “Bub” Porter, May 4, 23011; three sisters, Dorothy Mae Chastain, Margaret Broadwater and Gertrude Yost; and two brothers, William Earl Northcraft and Paul Clifton Northcraft.
Lena Mae attended Fort Hill High School and was a former employee of Murphy’s and Woolworth’s department stores. She was a member of the Cornerstone Baptist Church where she was a faithful greeter and a member of the Good Samaritans. She was also a member of the Christian Women’s Organization for many years. Lena Mae loved her church, family, and she loved the Lord with all her heart. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.
Lena Mae is survived by her daughters, Debbie Hamilton, Peoria, Ariz., and Joanie Faith, Cumberland; and son, Craig Porter and wife, Charyl, Wiley Ford, W.Va. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jenna Hamilton, Westminster, Colo., Justin Faith, Cumberland, Chanel Porter, Skyler Porter, and Eden Twigg, all of Wiley Ford.
Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, (www.AdamsFamilyFuneralHome.com) on Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
A funeral service will be conducted at Cornerstone Baptist Church on Friday, Dec. 28, 2012 at 1 p.m. with Pastor David Hattenfield officiating. Friends will also be received at the church one hour prior to the service.
Interment will be in the Maryland State Veterans Cemetery at Rocky Gap.
The family requests that memorials be made in Lena Mae’s name to the Cornerstone Baptist Church, 930 Frederick St., Cumberland, MD 21502.
