FRANK DEL SIGNORE [Cumberland]

CUMBERLAND — Frank Del Signore, 94, of Cresaptown, passed away on Monday, March 4, 2013, at the Lions Center.

Born June 19, 1918, in Bayard, W.Va., he was the son of the late Giovanni and Mary Anna (Del Signore) Del Signore. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Freda Kathleen (Deffinbaugh) Del Signore, who died March 15, 2009; three brothers, Gene, Ernest and Arnold and six sisters, Maggie Smith, Sue Marsala, Nataline Centofonti, Lucy Barchetto, Yolanda Taccino and Pauline Cardarelli.

Frank was an Army veteran of World War II and was employed at ABL until he retired. He was a member of Saint Ambrose Catholic Church, Our Lady of the Mountains Parish. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, Pope John Council and the Fourth Degree. Frank was also active in the Cumberland Moose and the El Fidel Social Club, and was a member of the Christopher Columbus Italian Festival Committee.

He is survived by a daughter, Diane Whitacre and husband James, of Charles Town, W.Va., a son, Robert Del Signore, of Baltimore; a sister, Rosalee Hauser and husband Don, of Des Moines, Iowa and a brother, Robert Del Signore and wife Carol, of New Creek, W.Va. Frank also has three granddaughters, Lindsay Trout and husband Matthew Shank, of Williamsburg, Va., Crystal Brown, of Shrewsbury, Pa., and Alicia Shawley; one great-granddaughter, Isabella Shank and several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., Cresaptown (www.scarpellifh.com) on Thursday, March 7, 2013, from 4 to 8 p.m. A Christian Wake service will be held at 4 p.m.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 8, 2013, in Saint Ambrose Catholic Church at 10 a.m. with Father Bernard Finerty, O.F.M., Cap. as celebrant.

Interment will be in SS Peter and Paul Cemetery.
