GRANTSVILLE — Harry M. Bowser, 94, of Grantsville, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012, at the Goodwill Mennonite Home, Grantsville.
Born Aug. 18, 1918, in Accident,he was the son of the late Harry and Reba (Smith) Bowser. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 44 years, Viola Frances (Weimer) Bowser; two brothers, Charles and Ernest Bowser; two sisters, Twila George and Freda Reichenbecher and a grandson, James H. King III.
He was a retired sawmill operator and a World War II veteran who was proud to have served his country while in the South Pacific. He was a member of State Line Methodist Church, W.O.W. Camp 41 and Walker-Harris Post 8826, V.F.W., Salisbury, Pa.
Survived by his children, Linda (Jim) King, of Rock Hill, S.C., Thomas Bowser, of Grantsville, JoAnn (Carl) Gut-hrie, of Malvern, Ariz., Gary (Dottie) Bowser, of Grantsville, Debra (Kedrick) Lapp, of Salisbury, Darla (Michael) Weimer, of Lebanon, Pa., Karen (Charles) Sipple, of Salisbury and Nancy (Wayne) Swindell, of Salisbury; three sisters, Donna Walker, of Salisbury, Edith Mae Yommer, of Addison and Gloria Reckner, of Salisbury; 17 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the Goodwill Mennonite Home nurses and aides who provided Daddy with such kind, compassionate care.
Friends will be received at Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 179 Miller St., Grantsville, on Monday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted in the funeral home on Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2012, at 2 p.m. with Pastor Ross Glotfelty officiating.
Interment will be in the Grantsville Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be accorded by local area veteran’s organizations.
Expressions of sympathy may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
