HAGERSTOWN — Albert James “Jim” Sell Jr., 61, of Hagerstown, died on Thursday, Oct. 25, 2012 at the Frederick Memorial Hospital.
Born Feb. 6, 1951 in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Albert James and Lillian Dean (Himmer) Sell.
Jim was a 1969 graduate of Allegany High School. He attended Allegany Community College before going into the D.C. Police Department, where he won several awards for his bravery. Jim started selling cars in the late 1980’s. In 1995 he joined the Criswell sales team and it didn’t take long for him to become the top seller in his department. He treated all his customers with the same respect and knew how to light up a room when he walked in.
Jim loved to travel and take trips, especially to Atlantic City, N.J. He was the happiest spending time with his family. He will be remembered as a very hard worker and a loving, caring man.
He was a member of the Hagerstown Moose Lodge; Hagerstown Elk’s No. 378; Williamsport Redman's Club Tribe No. 84; and the Funks-town American Legion Post No. 211, where he was in charge of the annual picnics sponsored by Criswell Chevrolet.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 18 years, Connie Jane Sell; a daughter, Ashley Nicole Sell and partner William Reynolds; a sister, Suzanne Sell Marsh and husband Bob; two granddaughters, Brynn and Savannah Reynolds; several cousins; nieces; nephews; and his loving dog, Angel.
The family would like to thank Jim's sister, Suzanne and husband Bob as well as his sister-in-law, Donna Faulk-ner and husband Steve for their love and support during this difficult time. Appreciation also extends to Harry Criswell and the employees and families of Criswell Chevrolet as well as Debbie Williams for their generous contributions to the Patty Pollatos Fund.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 1, 2012 at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, with the Rev. Barbara Daniels officiating.
Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.
Friends will be received on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made in Jim's memory to The Patty Pollatos Fund, Inc., 11102 Eagle Trace Dr., New Market, MD 21774.
