G. Faye (Johnson) Porter [Bel Air]

BEL AIR — ­­­­­G. Faye (Johnson) Porter, 76, of Bel Air, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 9, 2012, at the Lions Center, Cumberland.

She was born April 19, 1935 in Cumberland, and was the daughter of the late Rodney R. Johnson and Thelma G. Johnson.

Faye retired from the Potomac Valley Pharmacy. She was a member of the Fairview Avenue United Methodist Church and was a member of the United Methodist Women’s Society.

Faye was preceded in death by her husband, Richard W. Mawhinney. Together they had four children, Karen F. Miltenberger and husband Mark, Rick K. Mawhinney, David R. Mawhinney and wife Sharon, all of Cumberland, and Donna Sue Smith and husband Mike, Wiley Ford, W.Va.

She married Ronald Porter in 1994. Of that family she is survived by brother-in-law, Robert Rouch and wife Gloria, Rayland, Ohio; and sister-in-law, Jean Uphold, Wellersburg, Pa. Faye had one sister, Edna M. Greib, Bel Air; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She has many caring friends.  

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., Cresaptown (www.scarpellifh.com) on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Fairview Avenue United Methodist Church, 640 Fairview Ave., on Monday at 12:30 p.m. with the Rev. Daniel Taylor officiating. Friends will be received at the church one hour prior to the service.

Interment will be in Maryland State Veterans Cemetery, Rocky Gap, Flintstone.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Faye’s memory to the American Cancer Society or to the Union Rescue Mission, P.O. Box 1614, Cumberland, MD 21501.
