LUCY N. LAMBERT [Wiley Ford, W.Va.]

 

WILEY FORD, W.Va. — Lucy N. Lambert, 97, of Wiley Ford, died Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2012 at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.
Born on March 19, 1914 in Whitmer, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late William Perry and Cena Florence (Mullenax) Thompson.  She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Harold M. Lambert; two sisters, Myrtle Helmick and Arlene Cook; as well as her brothers Lon, Conley, Roy and Warren; and sons-in-law, Joseph D. Swartz and Jerry D. Twigg.  
Surviving are her children, Bernice Swartz of Surfside Beach, S.C., Wilma Twigg of Roanoke, Va., Dwight Lambert and wife Betty of Carpendale, W.Va., Elwood Lambert and wife Gail of New Creek, W.Va., Frank Lambert and wife Lynn of Harrisonburg, Va., Phyllis Litton and husband Edward of Manassas, Va., Brenda Miller and husband Roy of Cumberland, and Karen Jewell and husband Rev. Richard Jewell of Hagerstown. Also surviving are her sister, Caddie White; and brothers, Phil and Donald Thompson. She is also survived by her 23 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, and nine great-great grandchildren.  
Mrs. Lambert was a devoted, long-time member of the Wiley Ford Church of the Brethren where she served as a Deacon and was active in Women’s Fellowship, the Work and Win Bible Class, and the Quilting Circle.
Lucy was a loving mother and grandmother who took an active interest in her family’s activities.  She enjoyed watching college and high school football and basketball, especially her beloved WV Mountaineers. Her hobbies were sewing, quilting, and cooking, with macaroni and cheese being her most famous dish.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, (www.scarpellifh.com) on Sunday, Feb. 12, 2012 from 5 to 9 p.m. and at the church one hour prior to the service.  
Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, Feb. 13, 2012 at 1 p.m. at the Wiley Ford Church of the Brethren with the Rev. Paul Dietz and the Rev. Richard Jewell officiating. 
Interment will be held at Sunset Memorial Park.
