OCALA — Donald L. Clayton, formerly of Cumberland, passed away at his home in Ocala, Fla., on Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013, after a long battle with illness.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Willie Clayton. In addition to his wife, Don is survived by two sons, Donald Clayton Jr. and wife Robin, of Hillsborough, N.C. and Todd Clayton and wife Adria, of Corriganville; two grandsons, Trey and Gavin Clayton, of Corriganville; three granddaughters, Ashley Dickens, of Haw River, N.C., Sarah Dickens of Hillsborough, N.C. and Sherry Powers, of Murrells Inlet, S.C. and six great-grandchildren, Blakely, Adam, Layla, Jaylinn, Kayleb and Madilin. He is also survived by his brothers, Robert and Bill and sister Kay.
He was preceded in death by his sisters Judy and Helen.
Don was an ironworker who retired from Local 568 after 33 years. He was a very talented individual who could take on any project and bring it to successful completion. He was a kind and generous man who would do anything for anybody. Don touched the lives of many people and will be greatly missed.
Per Don's wish, his body was cremated and no services are being held.
