Together Again
CUMBERLAND — Eston Paige Paxton, 84, of Cumberland, passed away Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013, at Golden Living Center.
Born Oct. 15, 1928 in Petersburg, W.Va., Mr. Paxton was the son of the late Paige Paxton and late Della (Teter) Paxton. He was preceded in death by wife of 63 years, Betty L. (Stafford) Paxton; six brothers, Blaine Shreves, Rennie Shreves, James Shreves, Bruce Shreves, Bernie Paxton, and Joe Paxton; four sisters, Effie Shreves, Lula Reid, Thelma Morris and Genevieve “Jiggy” Adams; a son, Danny P. Paxton; a grandson, Alan Paxton Jr.; brothers-in-law, Joseph M. Stafford, Gerald Weimer; and sisters-in-law, Lula Mae Barger, Beulah G. Paxton, Dorothy J (Stafford) Smith.
Eston is survived by his sons, Alan D. Paxton and wife, Sara and Rodney J. Paxton and wife, Cathy, Cumberland; his daughter, Vicky L. Tibbetts and husband, Mac of Idaho; his sisters-in-law, Florence Passauer, Georgia Berkley and husband, Clarence of Ohio and Elsie V. Weimer and Beulah Stafford, Cumberland; his brother-in-law, Vernon Smith of South Carolina.
He is also survived by his grandchildren, Rodney (Josey) Paxton, Justin Paxton, Ashley Paxton, Jeremy Paxton, Joshua Paxton, Jacob Paxton and Andrew Paxton, of Cumberland, Daniel Ginter Jr. of Florida, Heather Lockhart of Capon Bridge, W.Va., Jennifer Moore, Martinsburg, W.Va., Tonya Mechling of Oregon, Shanda Ginter and Trisha McCabe of Idaho; as well as his great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Eston Paxton was a former Marine. He worked for Potomac Edison for 43 years. He retired Jan. 1, 1988. During his later years with the company he was supervisor of the equipment department. He was also the president of the union for Potomac Edison for many years. He enjoyed playing on the company bowling and golf tournaments where he took home several trophies. After he retired, he enjoyed vacationing in Florida with his wife Betty during the winter months. His family and friends were a major part of his life and he really enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, (www.AdamsFamilyFuneralHome.com) on Friday, Feb. 8, 2013 from 10 to 11 a.m.
A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday, Feb. 8, 2013 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Milton Morris officiating.
