WESTON LAKES, Texas — Bobby Lynn Thomas, of Weston Lakes, Texas, died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013.
Born to the late Stanley and Sunshine Thomas on Sept. 27, 1937, Bobby graduated from Sunset High School in Dallas, Texas, in 1956 and received a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Texas A&M University in 1960 and an MBA from Baylor University.
He married Sue Kegerreis in 1960 and served two years in the US Air Force at Edwards AFB in California. The Thomases made their home in Waco, Texas, where they raised two children. In 1995, the Thomases relocated to LaVale. Bobby's career was spent in the defense industry, primarily in the design and manufacture of rocket motor propulsion systems.
The Thomases retired to Weston Lakes in 2001 to be near their children and grandchildren. After a lengthy illness, Sue passed away. In 2008, Bobby married Barbara Coyner, a Sunset High School classmate. Bobby was an active member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Katy, Texas. He found great joy in his grandchildren, attending their many sporting and musical events.
Bobby is survived by his wife, Barbara; two children, David Thomas and wife Lisa, of Katy and Sulyn Thomas Dillon and husband Kevin, of Houston, Texas; six grandchildren; sister, Honey Noble and husband Harry of Tool, Texas; brother, Stan Thomas and wife Joan, of Flower Mound, Texas; sister-in-law, Shirlee Kegerreis, of Pensacola, Fla.; many nieces and nephews; two step-children, Kelley Coyner and husband Tim Sears, of Arlington, Va. and Kris Higgins and husband Casey, of Austin, Texas and six step-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, at 1:30 p.m. at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 1936 Drexel Drive, Katy, TX, (281) 391-2785.
Donations may be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church in memory of Bobby.
