CUMBERLAND — Maretta Louise (Emerick) Mayhew, 82, of Cumberland, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2012, at her home.
Born Oct. 31, 1930 in Fairhope, Pa., Mrs. Mayhew was the daughter of the late Ira Francis Emerick and Carrie Ellen (Emerick) Emerick. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Vernon B. Mayhew, April 25, 2006; a son, Sean Mayhew; a great-grandson, Andrew Porter; and a daughter-in-law, Samon Porter.
Maretta was employed as a waitress at Curtis’ and Star Restaurant. She was a member of the first Baptist Church.
Maretta is survived by her children, Edwin Porter, Dover, Del.; and her daughter, Marguerite L. Kastner and husband, Bruce, Scottdale, Pa. and David Porter and wife, Kathy, Scottdale. She is also survived by her brothers, Francis Emerick and wife, Dolly, Hollsopple, Pa.; Homer Emerick, Mount Pleasant, Pa.; Dewey Emerick and wife, Jeannie, Hyndman, Pa. and Roger Emerick and wife, Cathy, Mount Pleasant, Pa.; her sisters, Minne Lightcap, Shepherdstown, W.Va. and Janet Musgrove, Mount Pleasant; her grandchildren, David Porter and wife, Dana, Mount Pleasant, Brian Porter and wife, Michelle, Dover, Bruce Kastner and wife, Tammy, Haughton, La., Steven Porter, Greeley, Colo., Mary Stare and husband, Carl, Dover, Brad Kastner, Fort Smith, Minn.; her great-grandchildren, Brianna Porter, Cassandra Porter, Isaiah Porter, all of Scottdale, Mariah Kastner, Fort Walton Beach, Fla., Kaua Wong, Haughton, and Adam Stare, Dover; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, (http://www.AdamsFamilyFuneralHome.com) on Friday, Dec. 28, 2012 from 6 to 8 p.m.
A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Timothy Turner officiating.
Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
