Together Again
KEYSER, W.Va. — Mildred Ruth Whetzel, 80, of Keyser, died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2013 at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center, Cumberland.
Born on June 14, 1932 at Keyser, she was a daughter of the late Edward Earl Roberts Sr. and Lola V. (Everett) Roberts. She also was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, David A. Whetzel on Jan. 13, 2013; an infant daughter, Patsy Ruth Whetzel; a daughter-in-law, Susan Whetzel; three brothers, Vaughn Roberts, Marvin "Dick" Roberts and Edward "Junior" Roberts; and a sister, Margie B. Crites.
Mrs. Whetzel was formerly employed as a seamstress with the Sew-Rite Lingerie Company in Keyser. She was a member of the Sunnyside Church of the Brethren, New Creek, W.Va., and was a former member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the New Creek Volunteer Fire Department. Mildred was an avid bowler and square dancer and "secretly" enjoyed auctions and yard sales.
Surviving are four sons, Larry E. Whetzel and wife Sandy of Greendale, Ind., Alan P. Whetzel and wife Barbara of Keyser, Theodore A. Whetzel and companion Cindy Scheetz of Keyser and Timothy E. Whetzel and wife Brenda of Keyser; two sisters, Vivian Hanlin of New Creek and Edith Lloyd of Keyser; a special sister-in-law, Eileen Roberts of Keyser; grandchildren, Kissandralace Carter and husband Jayme, Terri Hall and husband Larry, Dr. Rebecca Westrom and husband Tim, Mark Whetzel and fiancee, Danielle Boone, Glynn Knight and wife Karen, Alison McCombs and husband Keith, Pam Whetzel and fiancé Chad Crites, Marty Elliott and husband Chris, T.J. Whetzel, Seth Whetzel and Selina Scheetz; 21 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Monday, Feb. 18, 2013 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. James "Sonny" Dodds and Pastor Dwight Ramsey officiating.
Interment will be in the Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser.
