OLDTOWN — Diana “Dee” Gail Knott, 59, of Oldtown, died Friday, Dec. 7, 2012.
Born Aug. 15, 1953 in Baltimore, she was the daughter of Rosemary T. (Lease) Shirley and the late Melvin Shirley.
She was also preceded in death by a brother, Stanislaus Shirley; and a sister, Jean Phyllis Shirley.
Mrs. Knott was a financial specialist for Blue Cross/Blue Shield.
She was Catholic, by faith.
Dee was a County United Way volunteer and enjoyed the Creative Needle Quilters.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Lawrence “Larry” E. Knott Jr.; two sons, Lawrence E. Knott III and wife Cheryl, Ft. Bragg, N.C., and Joshua Knott and wife Sherry, Clearville, Pa.; a step-daughter, Patricia Lynn Solor-zano and husband Lucio, Baltimore; siblings, Elaine Storck, Paula Lea and husband Eugene, James Moorefield Jr. and wife Dawn, Regina Johnson, and David Moorefield and wife Julie; two step-grandchildren, John and Carmen; one grandchild expected in May; 19 nieces and nephews, and eight great-nieces and nephews. Dee is also survived by her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, John Michael Knott Sr. and wife Beverly, Charles Benedict Knott Sr., Anna Marie Ness and husband Dennis Sr., Steven Leroy Knott, Fredrick Bertrand Knott Sr., and George Joseph Knott.
Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A., 202 Greene St., Cumberland, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
The funeral service will follow on Wednesday at 8 p.m. in the funeral home, with the Rev. John Michael Knott Sr. officiating.
