GRANDY, N.C. — William Ronald Thomas Sr, 73, of Grandy, formerly of Cumberland, passed away Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012, at the Albemarle Hospital in Elizabeth City, N.C.
Born on June 6, 1939, he was the son of the late James Harold Thomas and Dorothy Mae Steward Shipley.
Mr. Thomas was a restaurant owner and operator and was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose and the Elks Club.
He is survived by his wife, Maxine Camille (Nave) Thomas of Grandy; daughter, Terrie Lynn Hanks and husband George of Cranberry Township, Pa.; sons, Timmy Thomas and wife Michele of Grandy, and William R. Thomas Jr and wife Fawn of Harmony, Pa.; brother, James Harold Thomas Jr and wife Anne of Ellerslie; and seven grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Hafer Chapel of the Hills, 1302 National Highway, LaVale, on Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012 from 4 to 9 p.m.
A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Robert T. Wellman officiating.
Interment will follow at Davis Memorial Cemetery, Uhl Highway, Cumberland.
