LARGO, Fla. — Rodney Michael McCarty Sr., 44, of Largo, is now present with His Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, in Heaven. He died Dec. 27, 2010, (his daughter's birthday), at Largo Medical Center.
He is survived by his children, daughter, Ashley Nicole McCarty; son Rodney M. McCarty Jr.; parents, Bob and Jeannie McCarty, Largo; sister, Rusti McCarty Roby; brother, Robert (Bobby) McCarty and wife Misty; sister, Rhonda Snell; and brother, Rory McCarty and wife Maggie.
Born in Cumberland on June 23, 1966, he graduated from Frankfort High School, where he excelled in basketball.
He is a veteren of the United States Navy and was employed by Professional Surveys, Inc. He was an active member of Indian Rocks Baptist Church and loved talking about Jesus.
He is also survived by a total of nine nieces and nephews, Sean, Jordan, Jarett and Joel, Cory and Jessica McCarty and Nathan Elliot, all of Cumberland, and Devon and Dominique Snell of Pensacola.
Mr. McCarty requested that he be cremated.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
