AUGUSTA, W.Va. — Mary Frances Miller, 87, of Augusta, passed away on Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, at her home surrounded by her family while under the care of Hospice.
Born on March 20, 1925, in Three Churches, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Irvin B. and Susan (Haines) Barnes.
Mary worked 22 years as a certified Social Worker in Hampshire County with the Hampshire County Committee on Aging. She worked eight years as a receptionist with West Virginia Community Action. She was delighted to work with Warm the Children and many needy programs. She was a member of Salem United Methodist Church and the United Methodist women’s society. She was a certified lay speaker and served many years as an adult Sunday School teacher. She was also a lay leader in the church.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel W. Miller Sr. in 1979; also preceded by a daughter, Carol Miller Hott; a great-grandson, Colton Thomas Southerly; a brother, Alvin B. Barnes; and a son in-law, Frank Williams.
Surviving are a son, Daniel W. Miller Jr. and wife JoElla of Augusta; a daughter, Danielle Perkins and husband Elgin of Bradenton, Fla.; a grandson, Dr. George “Buddy” F. Williams and wife Brittany of New Port Richie, Fla.; four granddaughters, Nancy Williams and husband David of Bradenton, Michelle Southerly and husband Jody of Slanesville, W.Va., Christy Shell and husband Jeff of Augusta, Shelly Jo Miller of Augusta; four great-grandsons, Jeremy and Corey Williams, Hunter and Tanner Southerly; three great-granddaughters, Hannah Shell, Malaney and Trinity Williams; a sister, Virginia Ayers and husband Joe of Romney, W.Va.,; several nephews, great-nephews, nieces and great-nieces; and her caregiver ,Jolinda Sirk.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, Feb. 18, 2013, at 11 a.m. in McKee Funeral Home Chapel, Augusta, with Pastor Steve Davis and Pastor William Fout officiating.
Interment will follow in Salem Cemetery, Points, W.Va.
The family will receive friends on Monday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
