FROSTBURG — Alma Elizabeth Johnson, 94, of Frostburg, formerly of Cumberland, passed away on Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.
Born April 12, 1918, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Frederick Simon and Anna Rosetta (McDonald) Goss. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, J. Milton Johnson on Feb. 15, 2005; and three brothers, Harry Goss, Claude Goss and Fred Goss.
Alma was a homemaker and a seamstress. Earlier in her life she was employed at the Celanese. She and Milton were longtime residents of Blackiston Avenue in Cumberland and she was a lifetime member of Christ United Methodist Church.
She is survived by a son, Daniel Fleming Johnson and wife Samme, Bowie; a daughter, Betsy DiGiacinto and husband Peter, Texas; four grandchildren, Wendi J. Yermal and husband Eric, Emily Soll and husband Ryan, Levi Johnson, and Christopher Sarver; three step grandchildren, Sheri, Wendy, and Kathryn DiGiacinto; two great-grandchildren, Joslyn and Lilian Soll; and two step great-grandchild, Hayley and Grayson DiGiacinto. She was also survived by a brother, Patrick Goss and wife Ethel, Cumberland.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, (www.scarpellifh.com) on Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013, from 6 to 8 p.m.
A funeral service will be held at Christ United Methodist Church on Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Harold R. McClay Jr. and the Rev. Michael Mudge officiating. Friends will be received at the church one hour prior to the service.
Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
