CUMBERLAND — Shirley Louise (Robinette) Bennett, 76, of Cumberland, passed away on Feb. 11, 2013 at home.
Born May 24, 1936 in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Arch E. Robinette and Eva Mae (Whittington) Johnson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Jerome Wayne Bennett; sister, Helen Robertson; grandson, Jason Evans; brother-in-law, Clarence Shaw; one son, Norman Robinette; nieces, Sandy Cook and Joyce Markley.
Shirley was a homemaker. She was Catholic by faith, but mostly attended church at the Central Assembly of God. She was a member of the former Cumberland Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary. She loved playing bingo.
Surviving are her daughters, Eva Mae Thompson, Shirley Izat and husband Frank, Helen Kerns and fiancé Terry McKenzie, Terri Ashenfelter and husband Bob; her sons, John Kemp and special friend Robin Mongol, Jesse Moore and fiancé Bonnie Pettie, Jerome Bennett Jr. and special friend Michelle L. Baker, Jerome Bennett III; sisters, Joan Stallings and husband Gilbert and Ethel Shaw; grandchildren, Gary Morris Jr., Billy Morris, Frankie Izat, Chad Izat, Ryan Izat, Christina Kerns, Joey Kerns, Charles “Fred” Evans, Erica Weedon, Earl Evans, Crystal Kemp, Jessie Moore Jr. Shirley Moore, Bonnie E. Pettie, Mary L. Pettie, and Earl Pettie; and 37 great-grandchildren.
As per Shirley’s request, she donated her body to the Maryland Anatomy Board.
A memorial service will be held at the St. John Lutheran Church on Arch Street on Monday, Feb, 18, 2013 at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Shirley’s memory to the St. John Lutheran Church.
