KEYSER, W.Va. — John W. Helmick Sr.,75, of Keyser, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013.
He was the son of the late John Abraham and Bertie May (Riggleman) Helmick. He was also preceded in death by all of his 16 siblings, brothers, Loring, Guy, Harry, Cleo, Raymond and Delbert; and sisters, Lilly Grogg, Ruth Ganoe and Bertholene McCuskter. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Mr. Helmick enjoyed NASCAR and was a fan of the Dallas Cowboys and West Virginia Mountaineers.
Surviving is his wife of 51 years, Mary K. Wilson-Ziler-Helmick; one son, John W. Helmick Jr. and wife Cindy of Hagerstown; two step-sons, Gary L. Ziler and wife Carol, York, Pa. and John T. Ziler and wife Kathy, Louisville, Ky.; seven step-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., Cresaptown, (www.scarpellifh.com) Monday, Feb. 4, 2013 from 11 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home on Monday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Dave Steiding officiating.
Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
