Together Again
CUMBERLAND — Margaret “Marge” Painter, 94, a resident of Moran Manor Nursing Home, Westernport, and formerly of 51 East Elder St., Cumberland, died Friday, Jan. 25, 2013, at the nursing home.
Born on July 18, 1918, in Wilson, she was a daughter of the late Wade Hampton Pugh Sr. and Mary A. (Hood) Pugh. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Austin Painter on Oct. 28, 2002; three brothers, Wade, James and Donald Pugh and two sisters, Catherine “Kitty” Yocum and Estella P. Fazenbaker.
Mrs. Painter was a former Court Stenographer for Judge Ernest See, a secretary for Martin Johnson Food Brokers and during World War II, she was a stenographer for Consolidated Engineering in Baltimore. She was a graduate of Bruce High School. She was a devoted Christian, active and faithful member of First Christian Church, Cumberland and also attended Souls Harbor Church in Cumberland when she was able.
Surviving are her sister, Ruth A. Millar, of Keyser and a number of nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Markwood Funeral Home, Keyser, on Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013, from 2 to 6 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home on Monday, Jan. 28, 2013, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Betty Kennedy officiating.
Interment will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery, Cumberland.
