FROSTBURG — Edward “Junior” Negley, 82, of Frostburg, died on Jan. 24, 2013 at the Western Maryland Regional Hospital surrounded by his family, he was a resident of Allegany County Health Nursing and Rehab Center for four years due to Alzheimer’s.
Born May 2, 1930, to the late Edward and Elizabeth (Schell) Negley. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters, Agnes Stevens, Zella Drew and Betty Winters; and a brother, Robert Negley
Junior served in the National Guard and then enlisted in the Army on Jan. 1, 1949 where he was a Master Sergeant with the 17th Infantry Regiment (The Buffaloes) in the Korean Conflict. After serving he worked for William H. Fuller Construction until 1970 when he went to work for the Allegany County Board of Education for 23 years and six months as a maintenance foreman until his retirement on July 1, 1993.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Florence (Long) Negley; five children, Diane Walls and husband Cliff, Frostburg, Eddie Negley and wife Debbie, Larry Negley and wife Cheryl, Frostburg, Ronnie Negley and wife Kim, St. Louis, Brenda Sagal and significant other Craig Shaw, Lonaconing; nine grandchildren, David Sagal, Joshua Sagal, Kristin (Sagal) Sherman, Amanda Negley, Mat-thew Negley, Christopher Negley, Michael Negley, Ryan Negley and Ashley Negley; one step-grandson, Dwayne Carder; and four great-grandsons.
Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home P.A., 57 Frost Ave, Frostburg, on Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. with the Rev. David Sandvick officiating.
Interment will be at Frostburg Memorial Park. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Military honors will be accorded by American Legion Farrady Post 24 Honor Guard.
