KEYSER. W.Va. — Ethel V. Keller, 94, of Mockingbird St., formerly of 107 Maple Ave., Keyser, W.Va., died Friday, Jan. 18, 2013 at the Heartland of Keyser Nursing Home.
Born on July 3, 1918 at Erwin, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late Willis O. and Josephine T. (White) Shay. She also was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Thomas J. Keller, Sr. on April 23, 2010; a son-in-law, William A. Tichnell, Jr.; a brother, Samuel N. Shay and three sisters, Maxine S. Peters, M. Agatha Shay and Willisa S. Layton.
Mrs. Keller was a 1936 graduate of Terra Alta High School and graduated in 1939 from Fairmont Business College. She was retired with 14 years of service with Sears Roebuck Company in Keyser. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Keyser, where she was a member of the United Methodist Women and the Adult Fellowship.
Surviving are two sons, Thomas J. "Tim" Keller, Jr. and wife Carol of Monson, Mass., and William S. "Bill" Keller and wife Candy of Keyser; two daughters, Martha Jo Tichnell of Keyser and Peggy J. Warnick and husband Philip of New Creek, W.Va.; one brother, Willis O. Shay and wife Doris of Hilton Head, S.C.; six grandchildren, Emily and Holly Keller, Shay Tichnell, Paula Burke and husband Steven, James T. "Tom" Keller and wife Kathryn and Tara Keller and fiancé Michael Fazenbaker. Also surviving are four great-grandchildren, Darius Redman, Jamelle Foulks, Luke Keller and Cassandra Burke.
Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the First United Methodist Church, Davis St., Keyser, on Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Vickie Minnich and the Rev. David Peters officiating. Friends may also call at the church one hour prior to the service.
Interment will be in the Terra Alta Cemetery, Terra Alta, W.Va.
The family requests that memorial contributions be directed to a charity of the donor's choice.
