RAWLINGS — Vada E. Miner, 87, of Rawlings and formerly of Keyser, died peacefully on Friday, Jan. 18, 2013, at Allegany Health and Rehabilitation Center, Cumberland, surrounded by her family.
Born on Dec. 7, 1925, in St. George, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Rena (Auvil) Cassidy. She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Miner, on Jan. 13, 1979 and was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Vada retired as a cook from the Mineral County Board of Education. She was a terrific cook and loved cooking for her family. She loved her family and took great pride in each one of them. She loved life and always lived it to the fullest.
Mrs. Miner was Pentecostal by faith and attended the Keyser Assembly of God Church. She was a former active member of Women of the Moose Chapter 662, avid bowler, homemaker and a loving mother and grandmother.
Surviving are her two sons, J. Thomas Miner and wife Bonnie and Stephen W. Miner and wife Donna, both of Keyser; her three daughters, A. Sue Hines and husband Abe, of Keyser, Charlotte Delilo and husband Eugene, of McCoole and Rita Houdersheldt and husband Dale, of Denver, Colo. She is also survived by twenty grandchildren, Renee Nestor, Tonya, Christopher and Shane Hines, Debbie Williamson, Selena Howard, Leesa Imler, Jason Miner, Denise Delilo, Lori Sowers, Michael Delilo, Maria Delilo-Bartlett, Stevie Dale and Jeremy Miner, Trina Wilson, Matthew, Ezekiel and Angelica Houdersheldt, Lynn and Aaron Miner and twenty-five great-grandchildren, all of whom held a very special place in her loving heart.
Friends will be received at the Markwood Funeral Home, Keyser, on Monday, Jan. 21, 2013, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home on Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, at 1 p.m. with Pastor Patrick Cassidy officiating.
Interment will follow in Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser, W.Va.
