FORT ASHBY, W.Va. — Sadie Pauline Householder went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013.
She was born on Oct. 2, 1911, in Sleepy Creek, W.Va., (Morgan County) to the late Samuel and Katie (Gantt) Hoffman. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Raphael Householder. Sadie was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She is survived by her four children, daughter, Doris Nield, of Short Gap; sons, Truman Householder and wife Sandra, of Cumberland, Harry Householder and wife Marie, of Leesburg, Va. and Dale Householder and wife Judy, of Springfield; 14 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Householder was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Fort Ashby, where she was active in many aspects of church work, especially the United Methodist Women. She was a life member of Romney Chapter 84, Order of the Eastern Star. She had many skills, including cooking, sewing, crocheting, and quilting.
Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, Inc., Route 28, Fort Ashby, on Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Officers and member of Romney Chapter 84, O.E.S. will conduct a memorial service at the funeral home on Friday at 7 p.m. The United Methodist Women of Trinity United Methodist Church will follow with a memorial service at 7:15 p.m.
The funeral service will be conducted in the Trinity United Methodist Church on Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Mark Hickman officiating.
Interment will be in Spohrs Cross Roads Cemetery, Berkeley Springs, W.Va., on Saturday at 2 p.m.
