CUMBERLAND — Karen Sue (Broll) Sagner died Sunday, Dec, 23, 2012, at Lions Center/WMHS.
She was born on July 3, 1947, in Cumberland, to Margaret J. (Allen) Broll Peterson and the late Herbert O. Broll Sr. Besides her father, she was preceded in death by her step father, Clarence G. Peterson Sr.; her first husband, Harry E. Dorsey, Jr. and two nephews, Shane C. Broll and Raymond Burrell.
Karen graduated from Fort Hill High School, class of 1966. She retired from the Social Security Administration, having worked at the Baltimore and Woodlawn offices. She enjoyed painting, crafts and many television shows.
Karen was Lutheran by faith, but attended any denomination church held at the nursing home.
Surviving is her husband of 26 years, Dennis C. Sagner, Lions Center; her mother, Margaret J. (Tootie) Broll Peterson; two brothers, John W. Broll and wife Kim and Herbert O. Broll Jr. and wife Tammy; a sister, Lisa A. Broll and a step brother, Clarence G. Peterson and wife Kate, all of Cumberland. Also surviving are three nephews, Travis W. Broll and wife Liza, of Centerville, Pa., Ronny Weimer and wife Amber, Jeremy O. Broll, all of Cumberland; a niece, Kirsten M. Williams and husband Travis, of Inwood, W.Va.; an aunt, Lillian Hannas-Heavener, of Cumberland and a sister-in-law, Patricia Burrell, of Pasadena. She is also survived by several cousins; a great-aunt, Margaret Sanders, of Oakland and special friends, LeRoy and Betty Jean Shipley, of Cumberland.
Friends will be received at Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia (www.scarpellifh.com) on Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012, from 5 to 9 p.m.
A funeral service will be conducted in the funeral home on Thursday, Dec. 27, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Loretta Brinker officiating.
Interment will be in the Maryland State Veterans Cemetery, Rocky Gap.
