CRESAPTOWN — Oleta (Conway) Kreiger, 81, of Cresaptown, passed away at her daughter’s home on Friday, Nov. 9, 2012.
Born Jan. 31, 1931, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Charles W. Conway Sr. and Clara Mae (Robertson) Conway. She was also preceded in death by her husband Frederick Donald Kreiger Sr., in February of 2012, and three brothers Donald Conway, George Conway and Charles Conway.
Mrs. Kreiger was a member of Cresaptown United Methodist Church where she was involved with many areas of the church including housekeeping. She was also a member of the United Methodist Women and the Cresaptown Homemakers. She was a 1949 graduate of Fort Hill High School. Oleta was also involved with the Cresaptown Athletic Association, where she often helped with the concession stand, and the Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts. In her spare time, she enjoyed doing arts and crafts, crocheting, and gardening. Above all, she loved being with her family, especially going to her grandchildren’s events and games. She will be sadly missed.
Oleta was employed by the Cresaptown United Methodist Church, Mason’s Dairy, and retired as Executive Secretary at the B&O YMCA.
Surviving are her daughter, Sue Vetrano, of North Potomac; one son Fred Kreiger Jr. and wife Susan, of Hagerstown; grandchildren Krista Vetrano, Kara Vetrano and Kurt Vetrano, of North Potomac and Fred Kreiger III and Caroline Kreiger, of Hagerstown.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m.
A funeral service will be conducted in the funeral home on Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Hal Atkins officiating. Friends will be received one hour prior to the service.
Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
Memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Kreiger’s memory to the Cresaptown United Methodist Women’s Group.
