PEARSON, Ga. — Kenneth Irvin Cecil, 74, of Pearson, Ga., formerly of Cumberland, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2012, at Coffee Regional Medical Center in Douglas, Ga., following an brief illness.
A native of LaVale, Mr. Cecil has made his home in Pearson, Ga. for the past 11 years.
He was born on July 15, 1938, the son of Irwin and Delores Smith Cecil. Mr. Cecil was also preceded in death by a son, Raymond Ben Cecil.
Mr. Cecil retired from CSX, where he worked as a machinist/mechanic for 16 years. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Pearson, Ga.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia Cecil, of Pearson, Ga., seven sons, Kenneth Wade Cecil, of Buffalo Valley, Tenn., David Eugene Cecil and wife Janine, of Chattanooga, Tenn., Douglas Todd Cecil, of Sacramento, Cailf., Ronald Wesley Cecil and wife Doraliza, of Spanish Fork, Utah, Daniel Scott Cecil, of Provo, Utah, Timothy Mark Cecil and wife Tonya, of Pearson, Ga. and Bryant Jadd Cecil and wife Kimberly, of Waycross, Ga.; two sisters, Teresa Brooks, of Orange City, Fla. and Linda Carter, of Orange City, Fla.; 16 grandchildren; one great-grandchild, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mr. Cecil were conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Pearson, Ga., with Bishop Kevin Merrell and Bishop Lamar Park officiating.
Graveside services and interment will follow at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012, at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery, Cumberland.
Relihan Funeral Home of Pearson, Ga. was in charge of the arrangements.
