CUMBERLAND — Martha Louise McNeil, 92, of Cumberland, passed away Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012, at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.
Born Aug. 12, 1920, in Cumberland, Mrs. McNeil was the daughter of the late John Peter “Pete” Knieriem Sr. and Lyda Elizabeth (Arnold) Knieriem. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Lloyd S. McNeil, Dec. 17, 2001; five brothers, Lt. Col. John P. Knieriem Jr., Donald L. Knieriem, Brook Knieriem, Henry Knieriem and Arnold Henry; three sisters, Katherine Hixson, Mary E. Weimer and Marjory Knieriem and was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
A graduate of Fort Hill High School, class of 1938, Martha was a retired secretary of Pittsburgh Plate and Glass Industries with 25 years of service. She was a member of Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church. Martha was past president of the Women's Sports Club and played in various couples card clubs.
She is survived by a son, Jeffrey L. McNeil and wife Carol, of Cumberland; her grandchildren who were a special blessing to her, Lisa Frendlich and special friend Bill Beabout, of Poolesville, Jeffrey L. McNeil Jr., of Katy, Texas and David Frendlich Jr. and Dylan Frendlich, of Poolesville; her great-granddaughter, Jyssica McNeil; as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, (www.AdamsFamilyFuneralHome.com) on Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.
A funeral service will be conducted in the funeral home on Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2012, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Marsha Garrett officiating.
Interment will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
