MARY E. SEILER [LaVale]

LAVALE — Mary Elaine Seiler, 84, of LaVale, passed away Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, at WMHS Frostburg Nursing and Rehab. Mary has moved on, absent from the body, present with the Lord.

Born May 29, 1928, in Meyersdale, Pa., Mrs. Seiler was the daughter of the late George Franklin Beall and Margaret Lavina (Mazer) Beall. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William H. Seiler, on June 14, 2000; a brother, Robert Beall; sisters, Esther Lammers and Elsie Sweene; a grandson, Brian Seiler and three sisters-in-law, Marie Folk, Selma, and Henrietta Seiler.

Mary attended Glade City two-room school house for elementary school and then Meyersdale High School, graduating in 1946. In 1949, she graduated from Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. Mary worked at Doctors Hospital in Washington, D.C., for two years, and then returned to work at Memorial Hospital for 38 years, retiring in 1988.

Mary loved God, her family, her church and the multitude of friends she made during her life. She loved knitting, sewing, gardening, cooking, baking, serving others, playing games, telling stories about her childhood antics and playing the violin.  Mary loved to travel to church conventions, retreats, the West Virginia “farm” and to vacation sites. For many years, she enjoyed visiting church members in their homes and nursing homes every two weeks. Mary never met a stranger and every neighbor became a lifelong friend.

Mary loved to tell people that she had six nurses and four veterinarians in her family. She was a member of Saint Luke's Lutheran Church for over 60 years. She belonged to WELCA of Saint Luke's, LaVale; the Lionettes, of which she was a charter member, Sheik and Sheilas; the Dessert Legion of the Shrine Club; the Memorial Nurses Alumni and the NARF. Mary enjoyed annual reunions with Glade City School, Meyersdale High School, her Mazer Family, and the nurses.
