FRIENDSVILLE — Alice Dean (Lytle) Lohr, 72 years and 10 days, of Friendsville, completed her journey here on earth Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013.
Born Jan. 20, 1941, in Selbysport, she was the daughter of the late Alvin and Lela (Fike) Lytle. She was also preceded in death by a son, Philip Lohr; and a sister, Sarah “Leone” Schroyer.
Alice was an office manager, retiring from Orion Enterprises, Washington, D.C. She was a member of the Selbysport United Methodist Church and was an active member of the Goddard Art Club since 1975, located at NASA Space Center in Greenbelt.
Alice studied commercial and fine arts at the Corcoran School of Art and Sculpture at American University. Her interests included poetry, gardening, square dancing, tropical fish, houseplants, canning, sports and travel. Her artistic abilities were painting with oils and acrylics, sculpture, woodblock printing, pen and ink rendering, charcoal drawing, and watercolor painting. But her greatest ability was the love she shared in life with everyone she encountered.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Paul “Roger” Lohr; two sons, Jeffrey Paul Lohr and wife, Melissa, Tibbetts, Mo. and Kevin Roger Lohr and wife, Tracie, Lusby; three brothers, Elmer and David Lytle, both of Pottstown, Pa., Burton “Burt” Lytle, Friendsville; two sisters, Ellen “Sis” Dennis and Betty Lou Lytle, both of Pottstown; five grandchildren, Kristen, PJ, Miranda, Hunter Nash and Ethan Patrick Lohr.
Friends will be received at Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 943 Second Ave., Friendsville, on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m.
Services will be conducted in the funeral home on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013 at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Tim Bittinger officiating.
Interment will be in Blooming Rose Cemetery.
