CUMBERLAND — Mary Dawn Buckley, of Cumberland, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013, after a long courageous battle with cancer surrounded by her family and friends.
Born in Cumberland, Mrs. Buckley was the daughter of the late Ronald Kenneth Liller and Mary Madeline (Kenney)) Liller. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Murray Buckley and was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Mary Dawn spent much of her early life with her beloved great-aunt, Olive Workman and her grandparents. She graduated for Allegany High School and Girls Central Business School. Over the years, Mary Dawn worked as an administrative assistant in various retail positions and as a small business owner of a women’s clothing boutique.
Mary Dawn was an energetic, enthusiastic person who enjoyed spending time with her family, friends, and her dogs. She enjoyed reading, decorating, doing crafts, and gardening. Mary Dawn took great pride in the many compliments she received from neighbors and people passing by about how beautiful her porch and front yard looked each summer.
Mary Dawn is survived by her two children, Keith Zembower, of Seabrook and Kimberly Buckley Clark, of Burke, Va. and her beloved dogs, Bailey and Madison.
A memorial service will be conducted at the Woman’s Civic Club, 515 Washington St., Cumberland, on Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013, at 2 p.m. with Father Doug Kenney officiating.
Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
The family would like to sincerely thank everyone who was involved in Mom’s care over the course of her illness.
In lieu of flowers, Mary Dawn requested that memorial contributions be made in her name to the Allegany County Animal Shelter Management Foundation, P.O. Box 566, Cumberland, MD 21501-0566.
