FORT ASHBY, W.Va. — Elva Jean (Landis) Trenton, 71, of Fort Ashby, W.Va., went to be with her Lord on Friday, Jan. 18, 2013, at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.
Born Sept. 29, 1941, in Springfield, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Clyde and Nellie (Boyer) Landis. She was also preceded in death by her half-brother, Dewey Kerns; her sister, Hazel Largent; her sister-in-law, Clara Landis; a grandson, Joshua Smith; a son-in-law, John Kesner; a nephew, Terry Largent and a niece, Kim Landis.
Elva is survived by her husband of 52 years, Arnold L. Trenton; three daughters, Linda Jean Kesner, Sheila Ann Trenton and Sandra Dee Malcolm and four brothers, Harry Kerns, Ray Landis, Ralph Landis, and Jeffery Landis. She was a loving and devoted grandmother to 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She also had a special sister-in-law, Nancy Boyer.
Elva was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Ladies Auxiliary of Fort Ashby Post 6667, V.F.W.; Fort Ashby Lioness Club and Friends of the Fort Ashby Lib-rary. She also volunteered at the Food Pantry and The Dawnview Center.
Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, Inc., Route 28, Fort Ashby, on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
The United Methodist Women will conduct a memorial service at the funeral home on Sunday at 7 p.m., followed by the Fort Ashby Lioness Club and the Ladies Auxiliary of Fort Ashby Post 6667, V.F.W.
The funeral service will be conducted in the funeral home on Monday, Jan. 21, 2013, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Mark Hickman officiating.
Interment will be in Springfield Hill Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Patrick Kesner, Jeremy Kesner, Steven Smith, Trevor Largent, Johnny Boyer, and Scott Malcolm. Brad Trenton will be an honorary pallbearer.
Memorial contributions may be made to either Trinity United Methodist Church or the Fort Ashby Food Pantry.
