CUMBERLAND — Elizabeth Carolyn Chauncey, of Cumberland, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.
Born on May 26, 1940, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Christian Walton and Catherine (Williams) Walton, of Baltimore. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Martin Chauncey Jr., of Echols County, Ga.; two sisters, Constance Malchazski, of Baltimore and Louise Myers, of Baltimore and one brother Edward Walton, of Baltimore.
Elizabeth was a FCGNA and worked at local nursing homes. She was German Lutheran by Faith. She was a “character,” outgoing and loving life. She enjoyed bingo, crafts and knitting. She had a habit of taking off to travel and forget to tell anyone where she was going. More than anything, she was happiest when she was together with all of her children.
Surviving are three daughters, Patricia Barrett and husband Charles, of Ridgeley, W.Va., Linda Skelley and husband William, of Martinsburg and Joanna Nelson and life partner Robert Fisher, of Ridgeley; three sons, Martin Chauncey III and wife Joanne, of South Point, Ohio, Kenneth Chauncey and life partner Jodi Schlaile, of Baltimore and Garry West and life partner Rosella, of Cresaptown; fourteen grandchildren; thirty and one half great-grandchildren; one sister, Catherine “Sissy” Robinson, of Baltimore; three brothers Christian “Moe” Walton, of Frostburg, Dennis Walton, of Jacksonville, Fla. and Walter Walton, of Baltimore and their families; numerous nieces; nephews and other extended family members; and special life long friends, Kay Spahn, of Baltimore and Jack Moore, of Morgantown.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., Cresaptown, (www. scarpellifh.com) on Friday, Jan. 18, 2013, from noon to 4 p.m.
A memorial service will be conducted in the funeral home at 4 p.m. with Vicar Jennifer Bramble officiating.
As per her wishes, she will be cremated and laid to rest with her husband in Echols County, Ga.
