CUMBERLAND — August Victor Robey, 84, of Cumberland, passed away on Monday, Oct. 29, 2012, at Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.
Born Oct. 18, 1928, in Great Capon, W.Va., Mr. Robey was the son of the late Alonza Robey and Hazel Robey. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy C. (Widdows) Robey, on Aug. 10, 1995; a sister, Kathleen Lippold; a son, William E. Robey and two grandsons, Edward V. Robey and Matthew A. Robey. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
A United States Army veteran during World War II, Vic retired from the B&O Railroad and the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers and Blacksmiths where he was head of the union and served as general chairman for twelve years. Victor was a Master Mason and 57 year member of the East Gate Lodge 216. He received his 50-year pin in 2005.
Vic is survived by his sons, Edward W. Robey and wife Brenda and Robert L. Robey and his special friend Angie Shaw, all of Cumberland. He is also survived by a special nephew, George Anthony Lippold and wife Linda, of Texas; his grandchildren, Todd Robey, Justin Robey, Mallory Robey and fiancee Chris Brabson, Christine Robey, Travis Robey, and Clarissa Robey; as well as his great-grandchildren, Brittany Robey, Shawn Robey, Matthew E. Robey and Elena C. Brabson.
A memorial service will be conducted at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, (www.AdamsFamilyFuneralHome.com) on Friday, Nov. 2, 2012, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Wayne Turner officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
The East Gate Lodge 216 will conduct a service at 12:30 p.m.
Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
