BARRELVILLE — David P. Engle, 67, of Barrelville, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012, at his home.
Born March 8, 1945, in Meyersdale, Pa., he was the son of the late Harry G. Engle and Grace M. (Walker) Engle. He was also preceded in death by one son, Steven R. Engle; one sister Patricia P. Engle and one brother, Donald L. Engle.
David worked twenty-one years at the Kelly Springfield Tire Company. He then went to work for the Allegany County Board of Education as head custodian. Mr. Engle was an active member of the Barrelville Outdoor Club. He loved being in the outdoors, which included riding four wheelers, fishing, hunting, camping and boating in Mount Storm. Above all, David loved being with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Sandra Y. (Kreger) Engle; three sons David D. Engle and wife Jodi, of Cumberland, Michael B. Engle and friend Rose Martin, of Cresaptown and Scott E. Engle and wife Brenda, of Mount Savage; one sister, Carol S. Abernathy and husband Dan, of Cumberland; one brother, Robert G. Engle and wife Nancy, of LaVale; one grandson, DJ Engle; four granddaughters, Rachel Adams and friend Nick, Brittny Engle, Hannah Engle and Kelsi Engle and friend Billy Kimble; two great-granddaughters, Skyla and Brooklyn Kimble; a sister-in-law, Diane Engle, of Scottsdale, Pa., and lifelong friends Donnie Bartgis and Buddy Morgan.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home P.A. 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
A funeral service will be conducted in the funeral home on Thursday at 2 p.m. with Pastor Ken L. Korns officiating.
Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Joe Fuller, Buddy Morgan, Nicolas Laraway, John Wertz, John Jones and Howard Carpenter. Honorary pallbearers will be Eric Deffenbaugh and Dan Abernathy.
