NEW CREEK, W.Va. — Norma J. Lower, 73, of New Creek, died Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012 at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center, Cumberland.
Born on Feb. 18, 1939 at Martin, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late Lorenza and Lucy (Griffith) Harris. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence W. Lower Sr. on Aug. 18, 1994; a brother, Twesco Harris; a sister, Hildreth Haggerty; and a half brother, Robert Evans.
Mrs. Lower was formerly employed at the Keyser Garment Factory and at Doll's Snack Bar in New Creek. She was a member of the Rees Chapel United Methodist and more recently attended the Sunnyside Church of the Brethren, both of New Creek.
Surviving are her children, Darlene "Susie" Amtower and husband Jerry and Lawrence W. "Larry" Lower Jr. all of New Creek; one sister, Evelyn Jones of New Creek; four grandchildren, Melissa Rotruck and husband Rick, Mark Lower and wife Anita, Kenny Lower and L. W. Lower and companion Colleen; and 12 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are three beloved friends, Marie Kimble, Nellie Ott and Ila Crumbaugh.
At Mrs. Lower's request, there will be no visitation or services.
Interment will be in the Thrush Cemetery, Antioch, W.Va.
The Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, is in charge of the arrangements.
