ELK GARDEN, W.Va. — Maggie Virginia “Toots” Dawson, 94, of Elk Garden, W.Va., died Saturday, Feb. 20, 2010, at Moran Manor Nursing Home in Westernport.
Born Jan. 28, 1916, in Oakmont, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Milford Marcellus and Anna Maude (Stonebraker) Dunithan. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Harry Holland Dawson; infant son, Billy Holland Dawson; son, Charles W. “Chug” Dawson; two granddaughters, Teresa Lynn and Amanda Kay Dawson; two grandsons, Charles William and Gerald Lee Dawson; one great-granddaughter, Julie Ellen Birchland; and two brothers, Melvin “Meb” Oscar and Lawrence “Redjacket” Elwood Dunithan.
She is survived by six sons, Leland M Tuel and wife Faye, of Elk Garden, W.Va., Robert E. “Bob” and wife Doris (Dee) Dawson, of Cross, W.Va., Lawrence E. Dawson and wife Sharon, of Elk Garden, W.Va., Ronald R. Dawson and wife Hilda, of Moncks Corner, S.C., Kenneth A. Dawson, of Elk Garden, W.Va., and Donald K. Dawson and wife Mary, of Deer Park; 18 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Ruby Dunithan, of Baltimore, Mae Benson, of Bayard, W.Va., and Rosa Lee Dunithan, of Elk Garden.
The family will receive friends at the David A. Burdock Funeral Home, P.A., 710 Church St., Kitzmiller, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2010, at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Earl Williams and the Rev. Donald E. Marple officiating.
Interment will be in I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Elk Garden, W.Va.
