OAKLAND — Charles Russell McKenzie, 86, of 1869 Foster Road, Oakland, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2010, at Dennett Road Manor Nursing Home.
Born July 14, 1923, in Westernport, he was the son of the late Guy and Ada (Stuby) McKenzie. He was preceded in death by his wife, June (Bruback) McKenzie; brothers Edward, Fred, Troxell, Cobert and Robert; and sisters, Marguerite Chittum and Catherine Jones.
Mr. McKenzie was a World War II veteran and served with the United States Army Air Corp. He retired from Westvaco after 35 years of service.
He leaves behind a son, Charles (Susan) R. McKenzie ll, of Mansfield, Ohio; two daughters, Joyce (Hugh) Lesley, of Columbia, Pa., and Linda Welsh, of Oakland; a brother, William McKenzie; five grandchildren, Donnie and Lonnie Gibson, Chris Welsh, Laura Verduce and Greg McKenzie; and ten great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Tuesday, Feb. 23, from 2 to 4 p.m.
A funeral service will be conducted in the funeral home chapel on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
Interment will be in Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser, W.Va.
