CUMBERLAND — The Allegany College of Maryland volleyball team played a tough Southern Maryland squad tight for two of the three games, but the Trojans were unable to avoid a sweep Wednesday in their home opener at Bob Kirk Arena.
The Hawks, ranked No. 19 in NJCAA Division II, won the opening game 25-18 before having an easier time in a 25-9 second game. The sweep was completed with a 25-20 win in game three.
The Trojans were led individually by Lindsey Fisher, who was 41-for-43 on sets with 11 assists. Cherie Webb finished 16-for-22 on attacks with six kills and eight digs; Tasha Dunlap added 10 digs and two aces; and Jessica Miller had four kills.
The Trojans play at Baltimore on Saturday at 2 p.m.
