FSU makes strong showing at WVU’s State Farm Games

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — The Frostburg State men’s track and field team had a pair of wins and 17 top-five finishes at the West Virginia University State Farm Games on Saturday, Jan. 21.

Sprinter Patrick Pinchinat qualified for the ECAC Championships after winning the 60-meter dash in 7.10. It was the 22nd fastest time among the ECAC Division III ranks and tied his own mark for the fastest time in the Capital Athletic Conference this season. He later earned second place in the 200-meter dash in 23.10

Pinchinat joined Wes Jacobs, Eric Williams and Devin Francillon to win the 4x400-meter relay in 3:31.98.

Jacobs was runner-up in the 800 run (2:00.59), Thomas Bennett was runner-up in the 500 dash (1:11.73) and James Revere was runner-up in the triple jump (11.13 meters).

Earning third-place finishes were Chauncey Manson (200 dash, 23.44), Jesse Henderson (mile run, 4:52.94) and Greg Alexander (high jump, 1.70 meters). Alexander was also fourth in the long jump (5.85 meters) and Manson fifth in the 60 dash (7.21).

Trey Davis led FSU in the throwing events with fourth in the weight throw (10.82 meters) and sixth in the shot put (11.39 meters). Francillon was fourth in the 60-meter hurdles (9.45) and fifth in the long jump (5.62 meters).

Finishing fifth were Calvin Shriver (pole vault, 3.55 meters), Miguel Montano (800, 2:12.07) and Alex Patterson (60 hurdles, 9.60)).

FSU competed Wednesday at the Ursinus Pentathlon.

Women

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — The Frostburg State women picked up one victory and 10 top-five finishes at the West Virginia University State Farm Games.

Senior Amy Brennan led the way with the team’s only win, taking the 200-meter dash in 27.52 by edging Glenville’s Megan Ruddlesden by 0.03 seconds. Brennan also finished fourth in the 60-meter dash (8.48). Teammates Kara Kinyanjui (8.42) was runner-up and Alexis Bush was third (8.43) in the 60-meter dash. Bush also placed fourth in the long jump (4.63 meters).

Morgan Carroll was fourth in the 200 dash (1:02.70) and high jump (1.53 meters), and Samantha Taylor was fourth in the pole vault (2.65 meters) and fifth in the 60 hurdles (10.45).

FSU competed in the Ursinus Pentathlon Wednesday.
