Roberts’ 22 leads ACM to 100-86 win

BALTIMORE — Casey Roberts nearly recorded a triple-double with 22 points, nine rebounds and eight assists for Allegany College of Maryland in a 100-86 win at Baltimore City Community College Wednesday night.

The Trojans got off to a good start on the road to take a 13-point lead into the locker room.

They continued to control the game in the second half, leading by 20 with six minutes left. Baltimore City cut the lead to 10 but Allegany hit its free throws down the stretch, making 23 of 27 to seal the 14-point win.

Zafir Williams led Baltimore City with 21 points.

Sam Dale led all scorers, putting in 28 points along with eight assists and three rebounds for Allegany and Darnell Turner added 18 points and pulled down 11 boards with three assists as well.

Allegany improves to 12-8 and goes to Prince George’s Community College Saturday at 4 p.m.

Beaver Co. 94, Potomac State 86

KEYSER, W.Va — Maurice Lewis-Briggs scored 21 points to lead Beaver County over Potomac State on Wednesday night.

Beaver County jumped out to a 27-7 lead to start the game with Lewis-Briggs scoring 12 points in the first eight minutes. Potomac State came back with a 14-0 run of their own to cut the deficit to 47-41 at halftime.

The Catamounts pulled within 2 at 76-74, but the inside force of Beaver County’s Momadou Diakite was too much too handle as he poured in 13 points in the final eight minutes of the game to close out the win.

Diakite finished with 17 points.

Micah Parker led Potomac State with 22, Carlton Johnson scored 18, Jaron Ferrell had 12 and four assists and Peyton Hartman collected 13 rebounds to go with nine points on the night.

Potomac State falls to 10-6 and will play a make-up game from Saturday at Westmoreland tonight at 7 p.m.

Cecil 79, Garrett 75

OAKLAND — The Garrett College Lakers continue to struggle, losing their fifth straight, to Cecil College at home Wednesday night.

The squads alternated baskets throughout the first half with Cecil making enough to take a four-point lead into the break.

Garrett looked to have taken control of the game, up by six in the final minutes. But, consecutive three pointers by Brandon Bobb-Jones of Cecil tied the game at 75. Garrett missed a wide open shot on the other end leading to a put back for Cecil by Anthony Moe to give them a two-point advantage with less than a minute left. The Lakers turned the ball over on the following possession and Cecil milked the shot clock before driving the lane to make a lay-up to clinch a four-point win.

Cecil’s Bobb-Jones finished with 21 and Moe had 16 points.

Matt Gibson led Garrett with 18 points and five assists, Guila Panzo scored 16, and Armond Perez added 13 with 11 rebounds, four assists, three steals and two blocks.

Garrett (10-11) plays at Takoma Park Saturday at 2 p.m.

York 81, Frostburg State 73

YORK, Pa. — Paul Kouvaris scored 22 points and York used an 8-2 spurt early in the second half to take a lead it never relinquished to beat Frostburg State in a Capital Athletic Conference game.

Julian Watson and Todd Maciejewski had 16 points for York (12-7, 7-3), which moved past Frostburg State (9-10, 6-4) and into third place in the conference with the win.

DeSean Antoine had 20 points and three three-point goals and Troy Dockett 19 points and four three-point goals for Frostburg. Bradley Nunn added 12 points, six steals and two blocked shots.

The Bobcats led 40-37 at halftime and 42-41 with 17:50 to play before the Spartans went on the 8-2 run to take the lead at 51-44 with 14:08 left.

The closest the Bobcats got the rest of the way was 61-57 with 10 minutes to play.

FSU hosts Stevenson on Saturday at 3 p.m.
