Hobo’s wins, 10-4

— POTOMAC PARK — Corey Shroyer had four hits and Jordan Bingman had three as Hobo’s Restaurant defeated KMK Insurance 10-4 on Wednesday to earn a spot in the Hot Stove League Championship Series.

Hobo’s (20-2), which had 17 hits, swept the best-of-three semifinal series with KMK and will play the Romney Rippers or Lakeview Auto Parts in next week’s championship series.

Hobo’s snapped a 3-3 tie with a pair of runs in the fifth inning and a four-run sixth made it 9-3.

Shroyer had four singles and two RBIs while Bingman had three singles and winning pitcher Chad Deneen added a double, single and RBI. Zach Kendall had two singles and Luke Campbell a single and three RBIs.

Deneen scattered seven hits, got a lot of ground ball outs and struck out two in a complete-game win.

Brian Kimmell had an RBI triple, Ryan Tipton two singles and Austin Hensel an RBI single for KMK.

Hobo’s won the opening game of the series, 7-2, on Monday.

Shroyer hit an RBI triple and a single and hurled a complete game with nine strikeouts. Campbell doubled, singled and knocked in two runs.

POTOMAC PARK — Jared Fike fired a two-hitter and also doubled as Lakeview Auto Parts beat the Romney Rippers to even their best-of-three semifinal series at one game apiece.

Game 3 is Friday, at the Hot Stove Complex, at 5:30, with the winner advancing to the finals to take on Hobo’s Restaurant.

Fike allowed just two singles and struck out six in going the distance.

Lakeview Auto Parts (16-7) trailed 1-0 until taking the lead with two runs in the fourth. Cody Rodeheaver’s RBI single tied the game and Beck Sherrard’s squeeze bunt brought in the go-ahead run.

Pat Sines doubled and singled for Lakeview, which had five hits.

Garrett Crawford put Romney ahead early with an RBI single in the first inning. Josh Crawford absorbed the loss, allowing only five hits and striking out five in six innings.
