Fort Cumberland thumps Frostburg Farrady, 15-2

FROSTBURG — Kevin Myers struck out 11 and Fort Cumberland Post 13 pounded out 17 hits to defeat Frostburg Farrady Post 24 15-2 Friday evening at Mountain Ridge High School.

Fort Cumberland (19-5) scored four in the first, two in the third, one in the sixth and erupted for eight in the eighth that eventually ended the game due to the 10-run rule.

Farrady scored its runs in the third and sixth innings.

Myers, who permitted only one walk in getting the complete-game victory, allowed six hits with three coming off Farrady’s Josh Vanmeter, who doubled and had two singles.

Connor and Aaron O’Rourke each had two hits for Fort Cumberland with Connor tripling and singling and Aaron doubling and singling. Ethan Landis and Ryan Briner both doubled, Myers, Jeff Conley, Ben Russell and Seth Thompson each had two base hits.

Fort Cumberland hosts Jefferson in a doubleheader at Legion Field today at 1 p.m. while Farrady visits Grantsville Post 214 for two at Garrett College starting at noon.

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Nathan King hit a three-run home run in the fifth inning to give Grantsville the lead and Post 214 the eventual win over Morgantown Post 2 Wednesday at West Virginia University.

Grantsville was down 2-1 in the fifth when King’s shot turned the score around. Post 214 would then score five more runs in the sixth and finish by scoring three times in the top of the eighth.

Pat Sines hit a two-run triple and a single in the win, Steven Holtschneider, Mason Dick and Corey Helbig added two singles and an RBI, and Logan Stewart hit four singles and drove in two runs. Jared Fike ended the evening with a double and a single.

Kyle Tucker singled twice for Morgantown.

Grantsville (16-12) will play Frostburg today at noon in a doubleheader at Garrett College.
