FSU wins double OT thriller, 2-1

FROSTBURG — Michael Bistany slipped a shot into the corner of the net just over two minutes into double overtime to send Frostburg State to a thrilling 2-1 win over La Roche in college men’s soccer Tuesday afternoon.

Dillon Muise dropped a pass to Bistany who scored the goal that lifted the Bobcats (9-6-1, 5-3) to their fifth straight win.

FSU led La Roche (7-8-1, 5-3) in shots 16-5 and corner kicks 6-1 but all the scoring took place after halftime.

Frostburg State struck first, less than five minutes into the second half when Muise and Alex Super assisted a Ricky Marchant header that put the hosts ahead 1-0.

La Roche tied the game with its first shot on goal of the second half. After a turnover in the box, Reuben Jolo drilled a left-footer that found the upper right corner of the net.

Frostburg State controlled both overtime periods, attempting four shots, including three in the first.

FSU goalkeeper Stephen Cavallo made three saves.

The Bobcats host Pitt-Bradford Saturday at 3 p.m.
